Good introduction

This book takes a step-by-step approach to learning and building web components. The style is clear and easy to read.
To my knowledge it is the only book to cover bosonic, a library which adds web components compatibility to older browsers, and mozilla brick, a simple web component collection from Mozilla.
This book is perfect for beginning with this technique.

Quick and sometimes lacking introduction to the topic

The books gives a quick and not too deep introduction to a topic of W3C reusable web components. The books provides a quick description of the specification and web component model, followed up by a number of chapters describing a couple of frameworks supporting development of custom web components. What I was missing was a better description of current support for all the needed technologies in the current pool of web browsers. The truth is that as of today, Chrome is the only browser supporting all what is needed, other browsers lack the support or there are compromises to be considered during development.
That is something I was missing, and also I am afraid the book can get quickly out of date thanks to fast development of web components support. Still, I consider it a worthy read, at the end there is no other book on the topic I am aware of.

I learned a few bits, probably barely worth the price of the book.

there were some interesting its in this book. If you have been using a little web components (Polymer in my case), then the added value is not too much. I also felt that there is not too much time spent on the layout of the book and there are too many screenshots of installation procedures to my taste. One time is fine, but not for every framework!
