Great Book for Beginners to Learn Economics

Let me start by saying that Patrick Welch, the author of this book, is our economics professor at Saint Louis University. He is not strict by any means and uses the most basic and introductory words possible so that everyone can learn the material. The author is a grandpa-ish type of professor and that is evident in his book.

The book starts off with an introduction to what economics is used for, and throughout the book, multiple examples with many easy to read graphs are utilized to explain topics from supply & demand, types of businesses, and how businesses and households interact with one another.

Saved me 60 bucks!

Had that sticky stuff on the binding, like it had had a sticker on it at some point. Never got the purchase receipt either. Other than that it was in like new condition, like it said. Saved almost 60 bucks versus if I had bought it from my school bookstore used. Wish they had all the books I needed for classes.

Grade 1-3–Two itinerant dancers arrive at the same time in the Irish village of Ballyconneely in hopes of teaching the locals a variety of steps. Because the citizens can afford only one instructor, the two must vie for the position. One of them names a tune and the other demonstrates his fancy footwork to the accompaniment of a fiddle and whistle. The contest begins on a wooden door placed on the ground but quickly moves to the lid of a barrel, then atop a stone wall. A crowd slowly gathers as the excitement and tension of the competition build. The two men appear to be equally talented until one of them climbs a roof and dances on the chimney, a feat that is shown on a vertical flap. He is clearly the winner, and the community holds a bonfire dance in celebration and welcome. Illustrations in pastels and colored pencils adequately depict the events of the story but are stiff and do not convey the energy and motion of the dancers. Swirls in the drawings, intended to show the rapid movement of feet, also are used to show smoke and wind, so the effect is somewhat muffled. The text, set in small type and superimposed on the art, is sometimes hard to read. An author's note and a pronunciation guide for the few Gaelic words used are appended.– Maryann H. Jean Haines is a watercolor artist who regularly exhibits her paintings and hosts watercolor workshops for artists from all over the world. She has won many awards for her work, most recently the Society for All Artists' Professional Artist of the Year, Experimental and Abstract Award. She is the author of "How to Paint: Colour & Light."

You should own this book!

This book is absolutely amazing.

Jean paints with more water than pigment and this book shows you how she does it - and makes it easy for you to learn her abstract, impressionist no rules approach and apply it to your own work. She shares all her knowledge and doesn't hold anything back. I recently took a workshop with Jean and this book is like having her in my studio - tips, advice and how to's all in this book.

If you are looking to break out of your box, enjoy painting, be fearless and stop creating perfectly perfect watercolor paintings - if you want to have fun painting and really look foreword to getting to paint every day then you should buy this book.

This book has lots of step by step pictures and she explains her techniques really well. You won't be disappointed with this purchase.

essential teaching book

I've been painting for 10 years and found this book very enlightening and easy to follow. Ms. Haines teaches in a very compelling way, explaining in detail, her excitement and methods of learning to paint loose, with superior results. I ordered another book for a friend who is following all the examples with astounding results. Both she and I are very p0leased with Jean Haines' book. Amazon was the key to getting this book in a short time and in pristine condition.

I love Jean's new book

I really do love Jean Haines' Atmospheric Watercolors. She has a technique like no other artist I've seen (and I have a LOT of books). She shares her information freely and actually has made me feel like I can do some of those things. She works on 300 lb rough paper and I haven't treated myself to any of that yet. . .but I will soon! If I could save just one book in a fire or flood this would be it!

About the Author
Stan and Jan Berenstain were both born in 1923 in Philadelphia.��They didn't know each other as children, but met later at school, at the Philadelphia College of Art.��They liked each other right away, and found out that the both enjoyed the same kinds of books, plays, music and art.��During World War II, Stan was a medical assistant in the Army, and Jan worked in an airplane factory.��When the war was over, they got married and began to work together as artists and writers, primarily drawing cartoons for popular magazines.�� After having their two sons Leo and Michael, the Berenstains decided to write some funny children's books that their children and other children could read and enjoy.��Their first published children's book was called The Big Honey Hunt .��It was about a family of bears, who later became known as the "Berenstain Bears".��

Over 50 children's books later, Stan and Jan still plan all of their books together -- both write the stories, and both write the pictures.��They live outside of Philadelphia in the country.��

A great way to introduce Spanish to our American-born child!

I remember reading this book when I was in elementary school! I am American-born, of Mexican descent, where I grew up learning both English and Spanish. Now that I have a child, it's harder to maintain proper Spanish around the household. "The Berenstein's Bears New Baby" Spanish version allowed for a wonderful transition of great, classic American children stories to be told in Spanish, therefore, incorporating the best of both worlds! This is a book to keep on bookshelves that is great to read over and over again. It even helped me practice my Spanish as well!
