This was not the book for me!

I purchased the book based on the previous comment, but quickly learned it was not what I wanted. Exploring Visual Design is a primary or secondary school book which is a general overview and not specific for my needs.

If I looked at this book first in a local book store, I would not have purchased it as it did not have for what I was looking.

While the merchant was willing to refund my money if I shipped it back. The cost of the freight was high; the price of the book itself was cheap. I donated the took to our public library system. Perhaps, others can benefit.

My photography instructor recommended and I purchased another book, which teaches visual design but for my needs, "The Photographer's Eye: Composition and Design for Better Digital Photos," by Michael Freeman. Freeman's book is excellent!

With a refreshingly original premise underpinning her tale it makes for a relatively quick read, but it's one in which Nicassio's made every word count. Delivering a well-conceived and intriguing page turner which notably manages to avoid the trite clich�s of the genre, her characters are imaginatively observed and well nuanced to bring out their distinctive persona's along with the peculiarities of their other worldly origins. Altogether, it makes for a visually compelling and atmospheric narrative, whilst Nicassio confidently manipulates the multiple threads of her plot without floundering in the detail. With just the right balance of romance, intrigue and action, the alien elements aren't overplayed, but work wonderfully together without being predictable. Most importantly, Samantha Hunter is a strong enough character to carry a series, which will certainly draw much interest from fans of the genre.

No one knows why this happened. Her father is given a position at the college in New Mexico and they move there from Pittsburgh. When they move, things start to happen at her new school that she cannot explain, and her life is altered once , For�when she finds out that aliens are real and living in her town. From the Sky is a delightful young adult novel by J.E. Nicassio. This exciting book is a blend of government conspiracy novel and sci-fi with a strong element of romance. Samantha Hunter is a very wounded teenager. Her twin brother Finn is killed in a car accident one night and Sam is charged with driving while texting. Sam herself is almost killed in the accident and her mother dies soon after. Sam thinks this is all her fault and the guilt is tearing her apart. Sam and her dad need a change. They need a new lease on life so they move from Pennsylvania to New Mexico. But the past, particularly that fateful accident, follows Samantha to New Mexico in the form of Lucien Foster, a tall handsome boy that Sam finds herself drawn to despite her pain and guilt.�

From the Sky is at its core a teenage romance and we get a good look at young love and what it means to love when everything seems to be against you. Lucien is not what he seems and when he reveals the truth of who he is to Samantha, her world is changed forever. These are great characters that are realistically portrayed. They are American teenagers who have to grow up fast because dark forces are out to get them. J.E. Nicassio gives us a past paced and exciting tale full of car chases, close calls, and the angst of star-crossed love. Teens and even older readers will love From the Sky.

Let me preface by saying I am not a Sci-Fi reader. I primarily stick with suspense writers so this was a new genre for me to try. Since i prefer page-turners, I wasn't expecting to enjoy an alien story at all but since I've set a goal to try new authors every week, I thought 'why not?'.
Now confession time - I absolutely loved this book!! A good writer makes you envision every scene just like you are watching a movie & I actually thought- why this could actually be the beginnings of the next big movie similar to the Divergent or Hunger Games books!! J. E. Nicassio has changed me over to the world of Sci-Fi reading and I honestly had trouble putting the book down. Talk about a page-turner, it held my interest the whole way through the book. I remember, at one point, reading & thinking to myself 'I can't wait to review this book", I was that surprised by the good read. Thank you for opening my eyes to a new genre and I can only hope I enjoy other Sci-Fi writers are as much as I did your work!! I seriously cannot wait for the next in the series!!! You have a new fan J. E. Nicassio!!!... and I hope to see this made into a movie in the future!!

From The Sky, will have you on the edge of your seat from the first page. You get to meet Samantha Hunter,a courageous girl anyone would love to have as a friend, and experience an entire new world you never knew existed right here on Earth! But nothing comes close to the beautiful and breathtaking love she feels for the gorgeous Lucien. A love he just as strongly feels for her too. I give From The Sky five stars and can't wait for the next one!

Sam and Lucien make a great match in a novel that’s full of original ideas and plenty of unexpected surprises to keep you guessing to the end. I wax and wane with this genre because there are too many lack lustre books coming to the market but From The Sky really made the grade for me and I thoroughly enjoyed it.

This is the required text for a math course Im taking. The book starts off with the most basic concepts, its first chapter includes addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. Already in the first chapter there is a blatant error that corrupts the entire multiplication lesson. The error is referred to numerous times, and omits an essential step in multidigit multiplication. I have also found practice questions from the first chapter review that require knowledge from future chapters. This is only the first chapter and the book appears to be very poorly edited. For a $150+ book/set, I would expect the highest quality of editing, a feature this book appears to lack entirely. I can only hope the more difficult chapters are written correctly.

Not the goody-two shoes I thought he was

Who knew that Mr. Lady Bing was so opinionated? In that respect, this book was a pleasant surprise, because anyone can give the standard PR/PC spiel. I thought I was getting the usual sports bio, "We went into game 5 tired and spent, yada yada yada..." While Wayne does include things like that, he does provide insight on what it feels like to be a highly recognizable person. Most celebrities are too egotistical to admit to feelings of lonliness at the top, yet Wayne admits these feelings, and also enjoys his moments. I also liked how he pulled no punches when it came to his feelings about Peter Pocklington. You'll want to get into a hot shower and scrub yourself red, after reading the chapters on The Trade. He also occasionally decries The Supreme Lord Sather. Nice to see someone in the game not worship at the altar once in a while, isn't it? Yet he's still the greatest ambassador hockey has had. This book is better than Kevin Lowe's gloss-job, I'll tell ya that.

it was an exelent book all of the quots were great

I loved the quotes. once I started to read it i could not stop. I could not belive I read a book that was that long. Wayne Gretzky is the greatest man who ever lived. It is amasing when you think about it how many peaople try to idolise him. go into a hockey rink and look to see how many people actally do idolise him. And it is all because his jursey was too big for him when he was playng with the 17 year olds. My favorite part was when walter Gretzky quotes "I did not build a rink to watch my son grow up to be a pro I did it so I could watch from the kitchen where it is worm"

This was a great book!!

I thought that this was a great book. It tells about his first ten years in the NHL and how he broke tons of records. If you are wanting to learn more about Wayne Gretzky I would recommend reading this book. I just picked up this book the other day when he retired just to see how great of a hockey player he was and forever will be. I especially enjoyed this book from a hockey players view since I have played hockey for nine years and enjoy this sport verry much. So if you want to read a great book by a great hockey player read this book.
